Colts S Sanders out vs. Chargers (AP)
Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders will miss Sunday night's game in San Diego because of his ailing right knee. The NFL defensive player of the year last season missed last week's game because of swelling in the knee and was listed as questionable earlier this week. The Colts said Saturday night he did not make the trip to San Diego.

Titans bolster secondary, sign CB Poole (AP)
The Tennessee Titans bolstered their injury-depleted secondary on Saturday, signing veteran cornerback Tyrone Poole and promoting Tuff Harris from their practice squad a day before hosting Brett Favre and the New York Jets. Cornerbacks Eric King and Reynaldo Hill were placed on injured reserve, ending their seasons.

Heinz Field getting new field Sunday (AP)
The Pittsburgh Steelers will play on a new field during their final two regular-season home games. A new layer of grass will be laid atop the current playing surface at Heinz Field on Sunday, a few hours after completion of Saturday's four district high school football championship games. The new turf will be in place for the West Virginia-Pitt game on Friday afternoon.

Panthers LB Beason fined $5,000 (AP)
Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason has been fined $5,000 by the NFL for grabbing Detroit Lions quarterback Daunte Culpepper by the facemask on a play that didn't result in a penalty. Beason stopped Culpepper on his tying 2-point conversion attempt midway through the fourth quarter on Sunday. Replays showed Beason grabbed Culpepper by the facemask and his head twisted.

New York Jets rookie quarterback Erik Ainge has been suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's policy on steroids and related substances.
